(From Our Official Bio)
To describe singer-songwriter Brent Hoodenpyle's style of alt country music, you'll have to listen to just a few of his songs.
Whether it's in the award winning crying-in-your-beer tune such as "Picture Show In My Mind," a historical story song like "Damn Yankees" or a 1950's Nashville rocker like "Run Back To Him," you'll hear the influences of traditional and alternative country artists such as... Steve Earle, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Dwight Yoakam, and Gram Parsons, just to name a few.
And in his band, The Loners, you'll hear the sounds of the best country musicians Chicago has to offer.
The Loners are led by Scottish born guitarist John Ballantyne. His alt country guitar licks blend effortlessly with the traditional country sounds created by bass player Buddy Carter and pedal steel and mandolin player Mark Ardito. Then, when you add in the talents of rockabilly influenced Theresa Drda on drums, and you've got a ballsy mix of country music twang and roots rock.
From veneues like Nevin's Live in Evanston, IL to alt country enclave The Hideout in Chicago, to the folk friendly environments of the Masthouse and Stage Left Cafe in Woodstock, IL, it's this sound that has helped Brent and The Loners win over audiences and build a grass roots following.
